Once the Raid Egg hatches, a Raid Boss will appear for 30 minutes - but take note that Elite Raid Bosses can only be battled in-person. They appear from special Raid Eggs that take 24 hours to hatch. As with most Raids, these require Raid Passes. These Raids award Mega Energy based on how quickly the Raid boss was taken down. Mega Raids grant Mega Energy for the Mega Pokemon that is battled. Once invited, you can also invite one friend to join the EX Raid with you, provided you're Ultra Friends. This makes you an eligible recipient of an invitation. To participate, you need to have previously completed a Raid at the gym that is hosting the EX Raid. EX Raids are by invitation only and harbor are Legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo. EX Raid Battles ĮX Raids, also known as an Exclusive Raid Battle, is a special type of Raid battle that only happens at EX gyms. You can only have three raid passes at one time.ĭuring a Remote Raid Battle, players that are playing remotely will do less damage than those actually located at the hosting gym. Once you have a pass, you can join a Raid battle from the Nearby menu or through a friend's invitation. Remote Raid Passes are also handed out fairly regularly during events. Remote Raid Battles can only be participated in with a Remote Raid Pass which can be purchased in the store for 100 PokeCoins. Any Raid that can be accessed from the Raid menu is a potential Remote Raid battle. Remote Raid Passes allow you to participate in a Raid battle even if you aren't within range of the gym hosting the Raid. These can be received once a day by spinning a photo disc at any Gym. To participate in a Raid Battle, you must use a Raid Pass. If successful within the (usually hour-long) time limit, players get a chance to capture the powerful Raid Boss and receive Items rewarded only by completing Raid Battles. Multiple groups consisting of up to 20 people cooperate to battle the Raid Boss. If your Pokemon party is wiped out, you can bring in a new party or revive the downed team. Raids are very similar to gym battles with the key difference being the fact that you're fighting one super-powered Pokemon that can be caught at the end of the battle.
